The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). cheap robot vacuum cleaner mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. And cheap robot vacuum 's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
